Christian Experience Weekend
Christian Experience Weekend is a
renewal weekend for adults, designed to
enable you to more deeply 'experience'
yourself as well as your relationship
with God and the Christian Community.
The CEW
weekend begins on Friday evening at 8:00
p.m. and ends at about 5:00 p.m. on
Sunday. In order to maximize the CEW
community experience, all participants
spend the entire time together, in one
building, sleeping on cots and air
mattresses and using sleeping bags. (Website)
St.
Jude Knights of Columbus
Msgr. Daniel
Lenihan
Council 5544~Dist. 23
St. Jude Church
50 Edgewood Rd. NW
Cedar Rapids, IA 52405
Our
Knights of Columbus council, chartered
on April 13th, 1965, voted to honor
Msgr. Daniel Lenihan as the person whom
we'd like to name our council after.
Msgr. Lenihan had served the Knights of
Columbus on both state and local levels,
and he also served in World War I as a
military chaplain. He was a long time
pastor here in Cedar Rapids, and
assisted in acquiring the land where St.
Jude Church is now erected. Known to be
a determined man, he strongly promoted
growth here in the Northwest side of the
city.
Our council is proud to remember him.
Our council
is also proud to host a variety of
activities such as the following:
-
Blood Donation drives
-
Steak and Fish Fries
-
Pro-Life activities
- St.
Jude New Year's Eve dance
-
Prayer and financial support to
seminarians
-
Christmas parties for children and
for the elderly
-
Annual Tootsie Roll Sales Drive for
the mentally impaired
In
addition to the above activities, we
offer our councilmen fellowship, and the
opportunity to serve our church
community through repair projects,
building projects, and other support
efforts.
Our meetings are held monthly-usually on
the 2nd Wednesday of each month-in The
St. Jude Parish Center. We welcome new
members and hope you will consider
joining us.

St. Jude
Mother's Group
The
Mother's Group of St. Jude Parish was
founded as a support chain and
information exchange for Mothers and
their children in 1996. This group
brings parish Moms of all ages together
in an atmosphere of sharing and affords
play group time where children can
interact with other parish children.
The group is
informal and meets twice a month in the
mornings.
In
the summer, most meetings are held in a
local park where older school children
can be entertained and offered an
opportunity to spend time together while
still under their mother's supervision.
During the
winter, the meetings are held in the
Parish Center or in restaurants like
McDonalds where an indoor playground is
available.
Join us? We
welcome all Mothers-- Grandmothers
too!
